This past weekend we traveled to Wisconsin to visit Dave's family. We arrived Friday night around 1:00AM. Saturday morning I woke up to the sound of pitter-patter on the floor to find a baby chipmunk scurrying around our room. It nearly scared me to death at first, but once I woke up a little, I thought the whole thing was pretty funny! We told Grandpa and he set up a live trap to capture the little fellow.
Late Saturday morning, we traveled to Madison to visit with Grandma Kathie. Our adventure in Madison began with lunch at Glass Nickel Pizza - it was delicious and the microbrews were terrific as well. After lunch, we went to see the Henry Vilas Zoo and met up with Aunt Cindy and "Uncle" Chris. To conclude the visit, the kids enjoyed rainbow popsicles and conked out within minutes of being in the car.
After the drive through Madison, we headed back to Elm Grove to stay visit with Grandpa and Nana. On our way back, I snapped a few pics of the receding flood waters between Madison and Milwaukee. We returned to a wonderful meal of barbecue chicken and corn on the cob.
On Sunday, we traveled to Hinsdale for a birthday/anniversary celebration. Aunt Ruth and Uncle Don whipped up a delicious meal of burgers, salads, and all the fixins'! We concluded our meal with birthday cake and ice cream. The party was only slightly dampered by a surprise rain shower. The big celebration was for Great-grandma's 90th birthday, but also included were Sue and Bill's anniversay, Dave's birthday, Linda's birthday and Father's Day.
After the family visit, we headed to Elmhurst for the night. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Mayan Waterpark Adventure. The kids were somewhat unsure of the spraying water, but by the end, fun was had by all. It was a great mini-vacation!
